UK to South Korea International Removals

Moving to South Korea from the UK

A new home in South Korea brings plenty to organise. Your belongings need a practical route from the UK front door to the rooms where you will use them. Move Home Easy plans removals to South Korea around your inventory, property access and preferred dates, bringing collection, packing, transport and delivery into one coordinated service.

Apartment access and a booked moving slot can affect the final delivery. Share the floor, lift measurements and building-management instructions while the shipment plan is being prepared. We can discuss moves involving Seoul, Busan and other South Korean destinations, with the exact coverage and handling arrangements confirmed for your address.

The right shipping plan depends on what you are taking and when you need it. For removals to South Korea, compare shared-container space with a dedicated container, then consider whether urgent essentials should travel separately by air. The survey establishes the packed volume and identifies items needing extra protection.

Build your quote around the complete journey: preparation, UK collection, export arrangements, international transport and delivery at destination. Customs requirements and any available relief depend on the goods and your circumstances. Use the route guidance below to prepare the paperwork, and confirm storage or specialist handling before the booking is finalised.

Generally, the goods should arrive within six months of the mover's arrival in South Korea. The customs declaration must also be made in the name of the person relocating to the country, supported by the required identity, residence, employment and shipping documents.

A Moving Company for Relocation to South Korea

South Korea combines large coastal ports with densely populated cities and extensive inland road connections. A move to Seoul or Gyeonggi Province may route through Incheon, while Busan is both a major destination and South Korea's largest container port. Other cities require onward delivery after customs release.

Move Home Easy coordinates the UK packing and collection with the international carrier and destination team. We start by identifying what needs to be moved and the expected packed volume. We can then compare groupage, a dedicated 20-foot or 40-foot container and air freight.

A shared-container service can suit boxes, selected furniture and smaller household moves. A dedicated container may be appropriate for a larger furnished home. It may be possible to use air freight for a compact quantity of urgent belongings while the main shipment travels by sea.

The customer's intended period of residence affects the customs process. Korea Customs defines a person moving to Korea as a foreigner or overseas Korean intending to live in the country for at least one year, reduced to six months when accompanied by family members. Separate rules apply to short-term residents planning to stay for at least three months.

The goods also need to be consistent with a genuine household relocation. Customs can assess the period of use, quantity, family size and nature of the goods. New goods, duplicate appliances and items that appear commercial can be taxed or handled outside the normal exemption.

Move Home Easy manages the removals and shipping side of the relocation. Immigration, accommodation and building-management matters remain separate and should be handled directly with the relevant employer, landlord, agent or authority.

UK-to-South Korea Relocation Services

Choose the elements that fit your consignment and destination from the services below. Your written Move Home Easy quotation will confirm the precise work included.

Home or Video Survey

A survey is used to estimate the packed volume, review access at the UK property and identify goods that need specialist preparation. It provides the information required to recommend a suitable shipping option and prepare a more accurate quotation.

Show the surveyor everything that may be included, including goods in a loft, garage, shed or storage unit. Identify artwork, mirrors, instruments, antiques, large televisions, exercise equipment, stone furniture, safes and unusually heavy items.

Professional Export Packing

Household goods travelling to South Korea are handled more often than goods moved locally. Furniture and cartons may pass through the UK property, removals vehicle, export warehouse, container terminal, shipping vessel, destination terminal and local delivery vehicle.

Professional export packing is designed to protect belongings through those stages. It can include suitable cartons, furniture wrapping, protection for pictures and mirrors, dismantling of appropriate furniture and reinforced preparation for fragile or unusually shaped items.

UK Collection

Tell us whether collection is from a house, apartment, storage unit or business address. Parking, stairs, lifts, narrow approach roads and loading rules need to be checked before the date is confirmed.

Accurate access information helps ensure that the correct vehicle, crew and equipment are planned. A smaller transfer vehicle or additional labour may be required when the main removals vehicle cannot park close to the property.

Sea Freight to South Korea

Sea freight is normally the most practical way to move furniture and larger household volumes. Goods may travel in a shared container or a container reserved solely for the customer.

Your quotation should state whether packing by a professional crew, UK collection, export handling, sea freight, Korea customs support, destination handling and final delivery are included. A port-to-port freight price is not equivalent to a complete door-to-door removal.

Air Freight

It may be possible to use air freight for a compact quantity of urgent belongings. Examples include clothing, work equipment, children's essentials and goods needed before the main sea shipment arrives.

It is faster but normally more expensive for the amount transported. Charges can be based on actual or volumetric weight, so large lightweight packages may cost more than expected.

Customs Documentation Support

Move Home Easy and the destination team can explain the normal documents for moving goods into South Korea. The file can include the moving-goods declaration, detailed inventory, packing list, bill of lading, passport, visa, residence documentation, employment evidence and power of attorney.

The Korea Customs Service makes the final decision on exemption, taxation, inspection and release. Controlled or unusual items should be identified before packing.

Destination Delivery

After customs release, the destination team arranges delivery to the stated South Korean address. Delivery may include unloading, basic reassembly of suitable furniture and removal of used packing materials, depending on the selected service.

Before the arrangements are finalised, check loading, parking, lift and management requirements directly with the building or responsible contact. A smaller vehicle may be needed where roads, entrances or underground parking areas restrict access.

Storage

Arrangements for storage can be made when goods need to be held before export or after customs clearance. It can also help when only part of the household shipment is needed immediately.

Ask where the goods will be stored, how the rate is calculated, whether intake and release handling are separate, how much notice is needed and whether clearance must be completed before destination storage.

Business and Employee Relocation

Our team at Move Home Easy can help you bring together household-goods shipments for employers relocating staff from the UK to South Korea. The service can be organised around a relocation allowance, approved shipment volume, employee start date and internal authorisation process.

Clear communication between the employee, employer and moving team helps ensure that service changes and additional requests are agreed before extra costs are incurred.

How Moving from the UK to South Korea Works

A South Korea relocation should be planned so that the shipment, customer arrival and customs documents remain aligned.

  1. Initial Move Assessment

Help us assess the move by providing the UK collection postcode, intended South Korean destination, approximate shipment size and preferred moving period. Mention storage, specialist items and any fixed employment or travel dates.

  2. Home or Video Survey

The survey establishes the expected packed volume and identifies access, packing and handling requirements. It also helps determine whether groupage, a dedicated container or air freight is appropriate.

  3. Customs Eligibility Review

The destination team reviews the mover's expected length of stay, visa or residence evidence, employment documentation and the period for which the goods have been used overseas before shipping.

  4. Written Quotation

The quotation should explain the shipping method, packing scope, UK collection, destination service and exclusions. Review possible charges for duty, inspection, storage, restricted access and specialist handling.

  5. Service Selection

Choose shared-container shipping, a dedicated container, air freight or a combination of methods. The decision should be based on measured volume and urgency instead of bedroom count alone.

  6. Document Preparation

Prepare the passport, visa, residence and employment documents requested for the customer's status. The moving-goods declaration needs to be lodged in the name of the person relocating to Korea.

  7. Packing and Collection

The crew packs and numbers the agreed belongings and prepares the inventory. Before they start, set aside your original documents, passports, medication, jewellery, cash, keys and essentials to carry with you.

  8. Export and International Transport

The shipment completes UK export handling and travels by the selected sea or air service. Groupage consignments are consolidated with other shipments, while a dedicated container is reserved for one customer.

  9. South Korea Customs Clearance

The destination agent submits the moving-goods declaration and supporting records. Customs may review the period of use, values, quantity and nature of the goods and may inspect the consignment.

  10. Delivery in South Korea

After customs release, final transport is arranged to the stated address. Assess inland delivery time and cost in light of the distance from Incheon or Busan and the access at the destination property.

Shipping Household Goods to South Korea

Shared containers, dedicated containers and air freight suit different move sizes. When assessing the correct option, take the measured volume, required speed, budget and the amount of scheduling flexibility available into account.

Shared Container or Groupage Shipping

With groupage, separately packed shipments from several customers travel together in one container. Each customer pays according to the space occupied instead of the cost of reserving the complete container.

It can be suitable for boxes, selected furniture, smaller flats and customers who intend to purchase some household items after arriving in South Korea.

Timing is the main consideration. The goods may wait for consolidation, and the shared container must be separated at destination. Groupage therefore normally has a broader estimated schedule than a dedicated container.

Dedicated 20-Foot Container

Depending on the measured packed volume, a 20-foot container may suit a medium-sized household shipment. It gives one customer sole use of the container.

Sole use removes the need to wait for other household shipments to fill the same container and may offer a more direct sailing schedule. Port handling, customs and final delivery still need to be completed.

Dedicated 40-Foot Container

A 40-foot container is normally considered for larger family homes and substantial furniture volumes. It may also suit a move containing many bulky items that occupy significant container space.

The surveyor will confirm whether the shipment justifies this capacity or whether another service would be more economical.

Air Freight to South Korea

Air freight is the fastest option for suitable consignments. Leading UK removal pages commonly quote approximately five to ten days for air transport, although collection, customs and delivery can extend the complete timeframe.

It is generally best for compact urgent shipments instead of a fully furnished home. Some customers send essentials by air and the main household shipment by sea.

Shipping Option Comparison

Shipping service Usually suitable for Main benefit Main consideration
Shared container or groupage Boxes, small flats and partial household moves Pay for the space used Broader departure and delivery window
20-foot dedicated container Medium household shipments Sole use of the container The volume must justify a full container
40-foot dedicated container Large homes and substantial furniture volumes High capacity Higher overall transport and handling cost
Air freight Urgent and low-volume consignments Fastest international transport Higher cost for larger or bulky goods

Professional Packing for a Move to South Korea

Correct packing helps protect belongings during repeated handling and long-distance transport. It also creates an organised package inventory for the shipping and customs process.

Packing should match the contents: furniture wrapping, suitable boxes and extra protection for fragile pieces. Artwork, mirrors, antiques, glass, stone and awkwardly shaped objects may need a purpose-made case.

Items that may need additional preparation

  • Pictures, mirrors and framed artwork
  • Glass tables and cabinets
  • Antiques and sculptures
  • Televisions, monitors and audio equipment
  • Musical instruments
  • Marble, stone and unusually heavy furniture
  • Large appliances
  • Bicycles and sports equipment
  • High-value collections
  • Goods requiring custom cases

Check furniture and appliance dimensions

Many South Korean homes are apartments with lift, corridor and doorway restrictions. Measure large sofas, wardrobes, bed frames, dining tables and appliances against the destination access and room dimensions.

Appliance compatibility should also be considered. South Korea commonly uses a 220-volt, 60-hertz electricity supply with plug types that differ from the UK. Voltage may be compatible for many appliances, but plugs, frequency, warranties, installation standards and local servicing can differ.

Some services allow owner-packed boxes, but the protection or insurance terms may be different. Confirm how to declare their contents and which belongings must be packed professionally.

South Korea Customs Clearance for Moving Household Goods

Korea Customs describes moving-goods clearance as the process in which a person entering South Korea to relocate their residence reports the goods and pays or receives exemption from duties according to the Customs Act.

Duty relief is conditional. The customer's planned residence period, use of the goods overseas, quantity and type of goods are all relevant.

Who is treated as a person moving to Korea?

Korea Customs defines a person moving to Korea as a foreigner or overseas Korean who intends to live in South Korea for at least one year. The required intended period can be six months where the person is accompanied by family members.

Foreigners intending to stay for at least three months but less than six months can be treated as short-term residents. Their exemption is more limited. Eligibility depends on the reason for relocation, occupation, length of residence, accommodation and other circumstances.

The period of residence can be evidenced through the residence card, visa before the card is issued, domestic employment contract and other recognised documents.

The six-month arrival period

Generally, unaccompanied household effects should arrive in South Korea within six months of the mover's arrival. Korea Customs measures arrival by the entry date of the ship or aircraft carrying the goods.

Different reference dates can apply to overseas Koreans who renounce permanent resident status, naturalised citizens and people restoring Korean nationality. Returning residents should confirm the correct date for their circumstances.

Goods normally eligible for exemption

Among qualifying moving goods, items used overseas for more than three months can be exempt from duty unless they fall into a mandatory-taxation category.

Short-term residents can receive exemption on goods used for more than three months that Customs accepts as reasonable personal effects, excluding automobiles.

Goods subject to mandatory taxation

Korea Customs identifies several categories that remain taxable. These include:

  • Motor vehicles, except qualifying vehicles previously exported from Korea
  • Household goods used overseas for less than three months
  • Certain jewellery and goods made from pearls, tortoiseshell, coral, amber or ivory with a taxable price of KRW 5 million or more per item
  • Quantities beyond the recognised allowance for furniture and household appliances
  • Other goods that do not meet the moving-goods exemption conditions

Recognised household quantities

Korea Customs applies recognised quantities to home-use furniture and household appliances. The published table broadly allows one of each relevant household item for a family of one or two people, two for a family of three or four, three for a family of five to eight and four for a family of nine or more.

Personal miscellaneous goods and clothing are treated separately, but duplicate appliances should still be declared accurately. Depending on the family size and facts, a second television, refrigerator or similar item can be questioned or taxed.

Customs inspection

It may be possible to inspect household shipments. Customs may open packages, compare the goods with the inventory and assess their period of use, value and quantity.

Accurate descriptions and early disclosure of newer, duplicate or high-value goods can support the process, but no moving company can guarantee that a shipment will not be examined.

This information is general guidance instead of legal or tax advice. The Korea Customs Service and other relevant authorities make all final decisions.

Documents Commonly Needed When Moving to South Korea

Your checklist will be determined by the customer's nationality, residence period, visa, destination and goods. Korea Customs lists the following types of documentation for a moving-goods declaration:

  • Moving-Goods Declaration
  • Detailed descriptions of the declared items
  • Packing list
  • Bill of lading for sea freight
  • Air waybill for air freight
  • Passport copy and entry details
  • Visa
  • Residence card or alien registration evidence where applicable
  • Domestic employment certificate or employment contract where applicable
  • Evidence of the intended period of residence
  • Passport-validity or returning-resident evidence where applicable
  • Power of attorney for the customs agent
  • Vehicle documents where a car or motorcycle is imported separately
  • Invoices or valuations for new, high-value or taxable goods
  • Approvals for restricted or quarantine-controlled goods

The declaration must be lodged in the name of the person moving to South Korea. Names and passport details should remain consistent across the bill of lading, inventory, customs forms and residence records.

Tell Move Home Easy promptly if the passport is renewed, the consignee changes or the residence status differs from the information originally supplied.

Keep electronic copies of the main documents available while the consignment is in transit. The destination agent may request updated evidence before submitting the declaration.

Preparing the South Korea Moving-Goods Inventory

The inventory helps Korea Customs determine what is being imported, how long it has been used and whether the quantity is reasonable for the household.

Each package should have a number that corresponds with the packing list. Clear descriptions are better than repeatedly using the word “miscellaneous”.

Useful inventory descriptions

  • Used adult clothing
  • Used children's clothing
  • Used kitchen utensils
  • Books and study materials
  • Bedding and household linen
  • Used ornaments and decorative goods
  • Children's toys
  • Used sports equipment
  • Small household electrical items
  • Used furniture by item type

Record the period of use

The official moving-goods declaration asks for the number of months for which goods have been used. Items used for less than three months need to be identified because they can be subject to mandatory taxation.

Do not alter descriptions or dates to make a newer item appear older. Invoices, serial numbers and the condition of the goods can be considered during customs review.

Electrical goods and duplicates

List large appliances and electronics separately, including quantity, brand, model and approximate period of use where requested. Duplicate appliances can exceed the recognised household allowance.

New and high-value goods

Declare new purchases and high-value items accurately. Customs may ask for an invoice, valuation or proof of ownership. Removing the original packaging does not change the true period of use.

Commercial quantities

Do not use a household shipment to import stock, samples, promotional material or goods intended for resale. Multiple identical items can appear commercial rather than personal.

Restricted, Quarantine-Controlled and Prohibited Goods

South Korea controls a range of imported goods regardless of whether they are packed inside a household shipment. Controlled or unusual products needs to be checked before packing.

Goods requiring particular attention

  • Food, meat and animal products
  • Plants, seeds, soil and untreated plant material
  • Medicines, supplements and medical products
  • Alcohol and tobacco
  • Firearms, ammunition and weapon-related goods
  • Hazardous chemicals and flammable materials
  • Animals and animal products covered by quarantine rules
  • Endangered species and products covered by CITES
  • Drones and radio-transmitting equipment
  • Commercial stock and goods intended for resale
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Material prohibited under South Korean law

Korea Customs states that restricted goods must satisfy the applicable clearance requirements regardless of any tax-exemption threshold. A household-goods exemption does not replace a licence, quarantine certificate or authority approval.

Food and agricultural products

Food, plants, seeds, soil, meat and animal products can be subject to quarantine or import restrictions. It is generally safer to exclude food and agricultural goods unless the destination agent has confirmed that a particular item can be imported.

Medicines

Medicines that are readily available in the UK can be controlled or limited in South Korea. Keep essential medication with you in its original packaging, together with the prescription or supporting medical letter, and check the current rules before travel.

Items to keep with you

  • Passports and original immigration documents
  • Residence and employment records
  • Prescription medication and supporting medical documents
  • Cash, jewellery and irreplaceable valuables
  • Keys and important tenancy or employment paperwork
  • Phones, laptops and chargers needed immediately
  • Several weeks of clothing and essential toiletries
  • Children's immediate-use items
  • Important school and veterinary records

How Much Does It Cost to Move from the UK to South Korea?

There is no single reliable price for a UK-to-South Korea move. When assessing the total, take shipment volume, transport method, destination, packing, access, customs, storage and specialist requirements into account.

Shipment Volume

Volume is usually one of the largest cost factors. International household shipments are measured in cubic feet or cubic metres after allowing for export packing.

A survey is more accurate than an estimate based only on bedroom count. Two homes with the same number of rooms can contain very different quantities of furniture, clothing, books and stored belongings.

Decluttering before the survey can reduce packing and freight costs. Compare the cost of shipping bulky low-value furniture with replacing it after arrival.

Shipping Method

Groupage spreads container space and transport costs between customers. A dedicated container provides sole use but assigns the full container cost to one move. Air freight is faster and generally more expensive for larger volumes.

Destination City

Seoul and Gyeonggi destinations may route through Incheon. Busan shipments can arrive near the final city, while Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju and other inland destinations require onward road delivery.

UK Collection Access

Labour and vehicle costs can be affected by parking restrictions, stairs, long carrying distances and difficult road access. Provide the full postcode and accurate access information before the quotation is finalised.

South Korea Delivery Access

Apartment-complex restrictions, basement height limits, small lifts and limited loading areas can change the final delivery plan. A smaller vehicle or additional carrying work may need to be arranged.

Packing and Specialist Handling

A complete export-pack service requires more labour and materials than a limited service. Artwork, antiques, instruments, stone, safes and unusual items may require custom packing or specialist equipment.

Storage

Ask for storage pricing from intake through to release or delivery, including the weekly or monthly rate. Confirm the storage location, minimum term and notice needed to retrieve the goods.

Duty, Tax and Inspection

Goods used for less than three months, vehicles, certain high-value goods and quantities beyond the recognised exemption can be taxable. Customs inspection, quarantine action and controlled goods can also create additional charges.

Insurance or Shipment Protection

Check the protection included in your quote, any additional cover available and the rules for owner-packed or high-value items. Suitable photographs, invoices and valuations can help document the belongings before collection.

Questions to ask when comparing quotations

  • Is the quotation door to door or port to port?
  • Does it include professional export packing?
  • Does it include collection from my UK address?
  • Is the shipment groupage or a dedicated container?
  • Will it route through Incheon or Busan?
  • Does it include customs-clearance handling?
  • Does it include delivery to my exact South Korean address?
  • Are unpacking and furniture reassembly included?
  • Which duty, inspection or quarantine charges are excluded?
  • What access or shuttle charges could apply?
  • What storage costs could be added?
  • What insurance or shipment-protection options are available?
  • How long is the quotation valid?

How Long Does Shipping from the UK to South Korea Take?

Leading UK removals pages commonly estimate approximately six to seven weeks door to door for an exclusive container and around eight to ten weeks for a less-than- container or groupage service.

Other providers publish a broader sea-freight range of approximately six to ten weeks. Air freight is commonly estimated at around five to ten days for transport.

These figures are planning guides instead of guaranteed delivery dates. The complete move includes packing, collection, export handling, possible groupage consolidation, sea or air transport, customs clearance and final delivery.

Inland delivery can add time after port release. Routes beyond Seoul, Incheon or Busan may require additional road transport.

Factors that can affect the schedule

  • Groupage consolidation time
  • Container and vessel availability
  • UK collection arrangements
  • Export-port handling
  • Shipping-route changes
  • Transhipment where applicable
  • Port congestion and weather
  • The customer's arrival and residence documentation
  • Customs review or physical inspection
  • Duty assessment and payment
  • Quarantine or controlled-item checks
  • Inland road delivery
  • Jeju or island transport
  • Storage instructions
  • Building delivery restrictions

Travel with sufficient clothing, medication, work equipment and household essentials rather than packing them in the main shipment. Do not plan around a fixed delivery date unless the chosen service expressly provides one.

Relocation Services Across South Korea

Moving to Seoul

Seoul is the most common South Korean destination for international employee and family relocations. Household shipments commonly route through the Incheon area before final road delivery into Seoul.

High-rise apartment deliveries can involve security registration, underground vehicle-height limits, service-lift bookings and designated delivery hours.

Moving to Incheon

Incheon is a major port and logistics centre within the Seoul Capital Area. It can provide a practical entry route for moves to Incheon itself, Seoul and wider Gyeonggi Province.

Moving to Busan

Busan is South Korea's largest container port and a major relocation destination. A shipment intended for Busan or the south-east may be routed directly through the Busan port area.

Moving to Gyeonggi Province

Gyeonggi surrounds Seoul and includes major residential and business locations such as Suwon, Seongnam, Goyang, Yongin and Pyeongtaek. The full address is needed to confirm the final delivery route.

Moving to Daegu, Daejeon or Gwangju

Inland cities require road transport after customs release. Check your written quotation for delivery to the final city instead of ending at Incheon or Busan.

Moving to Ulsan

Ulsan is an important industrial destination in south-eastern South Korea. Depending on the consignment and selected service, moves may route through Busan before onward delivery.

Moving to Jeju

Jeju Island requires an additional domestic sea or transport stage after customs clearance. Allow more time and confirm that the quotation includes the complete island delivery.

Moving to Another South Korean City

Our team at Move Home Easy can help you discuss routes to other locations, including Pohang, Changwon, Cheongju, Jeonju, Chuncheon and regional destinations. Provide the full postcode or province so the route can be assessed.

Cars, Pets and Employee Relocation to South Korea

Shipping a Vehicle to South Korea

Vehicles follow a separate customs, inspection, certification and registration process from ordinary household effects. Korea Customs lists passenger cars and motorcycles as mandatorily taxable unless they are qualifying vehicles previously exported from Korea.

Generally, a vehicle should have been registered overseas in the name of the mover or accompanying family member for more than three months before entry. The published moving-goods rules allow one vehicle per household.

Korea Customs calculates the dutiable value using the vehicle's reference new value, residual-value percentage, freight and insurance. Its published guide estimates combined duties at approximately 19% of dutiable value for engines up to 1,000cc and approximately 24% for engines above 1,000cc.

Customs clearance is followed by inspection, certification, environmental checks and registration. Vehicle shipping should therefore be quoted and reviewed separately from the household removal.

Moving Pets to South Korea

Dogs and cats moving from the UK require a current South Korea export health certificate. In England, Scotland and Wales, the certificate is applied for through the UK government's export-health-certificate service and completed by an authorised official veterinarian.

Assess identification, rabies, testing, health certification, airline and Korean animal- quarantine requirements can in light of the animal's age, origin and travel history. Start the process early with a specialist pet-relocation provider and use the latest certificate and guidance.

Pet transport is separate from the household container and should not be included as ordinary cargo.

Corporate and Employee Moves

For an employer-funded relocation, agree the shipment allowance, authorisation process and reporting needs early. Move Home Easy can coordinate the physical move with the employee and the employer's nominated contact.

Depending on your quotation, the available support includes survey, packing, storage, international shipping and delivery, with requested changes documented before additional costs are approved.

Small Moves and Boxes

Customers do not need to fill a container. Boxes, books, clothing, sports equipment and selected furniture can often travel by groupage or air freight.

Send an item list or photographs, carton dimensions and any known weights. These details help establish the volume and identify a transport service appropriate to the consignment.

Why Use Move Home Easy for a Relocation to South Korea?

A South Korea relocation requires more than booking container space. The survey, period of use, inventory, residence documents, shipping method, customs declaration and final delivery all need to work together.

Move Home Easy brings together those stages from the UK. We assess the consignment, explain the practical differences between groupage, dedicated containers and air freight, and work with the destination team through customs clearance and delivery.

We also encourage customers to compare complete quotations. A low port-to-port freight rate may exclude export packing, UK collection, customs handling, storage, inland transport, access charges and delivery to the final South Korean address.

Move Home Easy coordinates the practical stages that make a South Korea relocation work: survey planning, export packing, UK collection, shipping, customs support and destination delivery.

Your questions about Moving to South Korea from the UK:

Is it possible to ship food or plants to South Korea?

Food, plants, seeds, soil and animal products can be restricted or subject to quarantine. These goods should generally be excluded unless the destination agent confirms that the specific product can be imported.

At what stage should I book a move to South Korea?

Allow more time for a survey, quotation, customs review and shipping choice by starting around eight to twelve weeks before collection. Begin earlier when pets, vehicles or a fixed employment date are involved.

How can I keep costs down when I move belongings to South Korea?

Because the customer pays for the space used, groupage is often economical for a smaller, non-urgent shipment. Compare the complete service, including packing, collection, customs support and delivery, rather than freight alone.

What should I budget to move from the UK to South Korea?

Your quotation is worked out from shipment volume, groupage or dedicated-container service, destination city, packing, UK collection access, South Korean delivery access, storage and specialist items. A survey followed by a written door-to-door quotation is the most reliable way to establish the cost.

Is it possible for my belongings to be stored during the move?

If you need storage, check availability both before export and after customs clearance. Agree the location, ongoing rate, handling costs, minimum term, release notice and onward delivery before making the booking.

What timescale should I allow to ship household goods to South Korea?

Published UK mover estimates suggest roughly six to seven weeks for a sole-use container and eight to ten for groupage. Air-freight estimates often range from five to ten days. Allow additional time for clearance and delivery.

Is it possible to ship only boxes to South Korea?

Boxes and smaller personal-effects consignments can often travel through groupage or air freight. Provide carton dimensions, weights where known and the collection and delivery locations when requesting a quote.

When would I need a full shipping container?

A full container is not always necessary. The survey's packed-volume measurement helps determine whether sole use is worthwhile or a shared container is more suitable.

How does sharing a container through groupage work?

A shared container can suit a smaller household with flexible dates. Several customers' goods travel together, but each consignment is separately packed and charged according to its space. Allow a broader schedule than for a sole-use booking.

When can used household goods qualify for duty relief in South Korea?

Goods used overseas for over three months may qualify for duty relief, unless mandatory taxation applies to their category. Korea Customs determines eligibility and the final treatment.

Is it possible to import two televisions or duplicate appliances?

Korea Customs applies recognised quantities for household furniture and appliances according to family size. Goods beyond those quantities can be taxed, so duplicate appliances should be listed clearly.

Which paperwork should I prepare for Korea customs clearance?

For the paperwork file, you will commonly need the moving-goods declaration, inventory, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, passport, visa, residence evidence, employment documentation and power of attorney. Your list will be determined by the customer's status.

Could my shipment be inspected by Korea Customs?

It may be possible to inspect household shipments. Customs may open packages, review values and compare the goods with the inventory. No moving company can guarantee that an inspection will not occur.

Medicines can be controlled or limited. Keep essential medicine with you in its original packaging and check the current Korean requirements. Some products may require documents or approval.

A note from Move Home Easy

A little preparation makes moving easier

Create a moving folder before your survey: include a room-by-room list, access photos and your preferred dates. Then compare written quotes line by line, checking the allowances for packing, transport, storage and delivery. This makes gaps in the service easier to spot before you book.
